The Subaru Solterra windshield wiper system offers both automatic rain-sensing operation and manual control, allowing precise adjustment for various weather conditions. The washer system can also be activated for effective cleaning of the windshield.
NOTICE
■ When the windshield is dry
Do not operate the wipers on a dry windshield in the Subaru Solterra, as this may cause damage to the glass surface or wiper blades.
Operating the wiper lever
Using the
lever, the Subaru Solterra wiper system can be controlled as follows: When the "AUTO"
mode is selected, the system automatically activates the wipers when rain is detected.
The wiping frequency is intelligently adjusted based on rainfall intensity and vehicle
speed.

When operating in AUTO mode, the sensitivity of the Subaru Solterra rain sensor can be adjusted using the control ring.
Pulling the lever activates both the washer spray and wipers simultaneously in the Subaru Solterra, ensuring effective windshield cleaning.
The wipers will automatically perform several passes after fluid is sprayed. An additional delayed wipe helps prevent residual droplets from impairing visibility.
(This delayed wipe function may not operate while the Subaru Solterra is in motion.)

Digital inner mirror camera washer operationPushing the lever activates the washer system to clean the digital inner mirror camera, improving rear visibility.
*: Available on Subaru Solterra models equipped with a digital inner mirror.
■ The windshield wipers and washer can be operated when
The Subaru Solterra wiper and washer systems are functional when the power switch is in the ON position.
■ Effects of vehicle speed on wiper operation
When low-speed wiping is selected, the Subaru Solterra may automatically switch to intermittent wiping when the vehicle is stationary, depending on sensor sensitivity settings.
■ Raindrop sensor
■ If no windshield washer fluid sprays
If washer fluid does not spray in the Subaru Solterra, check for blocked nozzles or ensure sufficient fluid is present in the reservoir.
■ Using the voice control system
The Subaru Solterra allows limited wiper and washer control via voice commands, including single wipe activation and windshield cleaning (when the vehicle is stationary).
Refer to the multimedia system manual for detailed voice control instructions.
WARNING
■ Caution regarding the use of windshield wipers in "AUTO" mode
The Subaru Solterra wipers may activate unexpectedly if the sensor is touched or the windshield experiences vibration while in AUTO mode.
Ensure that hands or objects are kept clear of the wiper mechanism at all times.
■ Caution regarding the use of washer fluid
In cold conditions, avoid using washer fluid until the windshield is sufficiently warm. Frozen fluid may reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents.
NOTICE
■ When the washer fluid tank is empty
Do not continuously operate the washer system in the Subaru Solterra when the tank is empty, as this may cause the pump to overheat.
■ When a nozzle becomes blocked
If a nozzle becomes clogged, contact a SUBARU dealer. Avoid using sharp objects to clear it, as this may damage the nozzle.
■ To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Do not leave the wipers operating longer than necessary when the Subaru Solterra EV system is turned off.
This comprehensive lighting and visibility system in the Subaru Solterra ensures optimal driving safety, comfort, and adaptability across a wide range of weather and road conditions.
